Sinfonia Nordestina

I also looked at artists in order to get a more abstract representation of my ideas. I looked at the artist Beatriz Milhazes and chose this piece as it reminded me of the work I had previously done. Beatriz Milhazes is a Brazilian artist who creates exuberantly coloured, rhythmically constructed abstract paintings, collages, prints and architectural installations that are well-known worldwide. The piece I chose is an acrylic on canvas painting and the bright and colourful circles remind me of the over laying and clusters of sahpes that I have been exploring in my work. I think it is a good representation of the shape of my work and the kind of repeated pattern I am working towards creating. The use of repeated circles will help me gain ideas for my work, I like the use of the circles and I think they create an interesting shape when combined together. The bright and bold colours remind me of the colours I have been using and create and carefree and fun atmosphere. As well as this there is a section covered with rectangles in different colours. I thought that this area added depth to the picture as it adds some harsher lines to the piece. Some ares have clusters of leaves in them with relate back to the natural theme running through my work and also use very similar colour to those I have.
We then created a still life at school and photographed areas of it that dirctly linked to our project as points of inspiration. Here are some of the photos I took:
